Betty was born November 6, 1923 in Springfield, the daughter of Jesse and Bernice Bruckman Goodman. She married Eugene Baker on November 22, 1945 in Springfield, and he preceded her in death on November 1, 2008.
Betty was a graduate of Feitshans High School and was employed at several area department stores. She was owner and operator of Baker's True Value Hardware Store from 1960 until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of Third Presbyterian Church, the Springfield Evening Optimist Club, King's Daughter's Home, Oak Crest Country Club and Illini Country Club. Betty enjoyed travelling, golf, cooking, and baking.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Janet L. Glisson.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Kevin) Patton of Rochester; five grandchildren, John Groesch, Jennifer (James) Robson, William (Melanie) Patton, Ryan Patton and Catherine Patton; seven great-grandchildren, Chanse Heibner, Josephine and Tripp Robson, Jacob and Joshua Groesch, and Abigail and Hannah Patton.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 11:00 – 11:45 a.m. on Monday, July 23, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
Funeral Ceremony: 12:00 p.m. on Monday, July 23, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
