Mrs. Irene C. Ausman, age 92, of 1017 N. 15th St, Manitowoc, died Thursday
afternoon, April 21, 1994, at St. Mary's Home for the Aged, Manitowoc.
Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, April 25, 1994, at Holy Innocents
Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by
Rev. Gerald Foley. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born March 28, 1902, in Rice Lake, Wis., daughter of the late Albert and
Clara Gagner Bilodeau. She was educated at St. Joseph's School in Rice Lake and
is an alumna of Holy Spirit Academy, Techny, Ill. For several years Irene had
been employed as a legal secretary in Eau Claire and later Milwaukee. She married
John G. Ausman on August 22, 1927, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Eau Claire.
He preceded her in death on June 4, 1986. She and her husband lived in Milwaukee
and Elm Grove before coming to Manitowoc in 1945 where they have resided since.
In 1977 they had the honor of celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Irene
was a member of Holy Innocents Catholic Church and was also a member and past
officer of the Christian Women of Holy Innocents. She was also a member of the
Catholic Women's Club of Manitowoc.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, John M. and Jane Ausman, Moraga,
Calif., James R. and Louise Ausman, Charlotte, N.C., Richard P. and Nancy Ausman,
Duluth, Minn. A very special friend, Joe Bachnik, Manitowoc; one sister and brother-
in-law, Eva and Norman Rock, Ladysmith, Wis.; ten grandchildren; three great-
grandchildren, along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death
by her husband, John, one brother and sister-in-law, Harris and Lucille Bilodeau,
one grandson, William Ausman.
Friends may call at the Harrigan-Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc, Sunday from 5-8
and Monday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass. A prayer service will
be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials may be made to Roncalli High School or Silver Lake College.
