Mrs. Attridge, One of First Settlers, Dies at Age 88
Mrs. Charlotte Attridge, N. Eleventh street, died on Tuesday evening from
infirmities of old age. Decedent has lived in this city the last twenty years,
moving here from Clarks Mills. She has lived alone and is without kin in this
city. She has one son, a grand daughter at Wausau. Efforts have been made to
notify the latter but her address is unknown and her name since marriage is
also not known to anyone here. Judge Schenlan, a neighbor, has interested
himself in the matter and will try to locate someone to take charge of the
body.
Mrs. Attridge was one of the first settlers of Manitowoc county, having come
here in 1839 or 40, when the county was a wilderness. As a girl of fifteen she
located with her parents in this city and was married here to Thomas Attridge
and the family later removed to Clarks Mills. Mr. Attridge enlisted in the

her residence at Clarks Mills until twenty years ago when she removed to this
city.
One son, Eli, residing at New Richmond and three grand children survive. Funeral
arrangements have not been made.
