Francis (Jack) Asuma, 66, of 314 Riverview Dr., Manitowoc, died Tuesday morning
at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church Chapel,
Manitowoc. The Rev. Theodore Vinger will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen
Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Asuma was born April 3, 1904, at Ashtabula, Ohio, son of the late Andrew and
Susan Owlila Asuma. In September, 1936, he married Gertrude Machmiller at Manitowoc.
He was an operating engineer at Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc., Manitowoc, and a
member of the International Union of Operating Engineers No. 505.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. John (Marion) Stanton; two brothers,
Walter of Fairport Harbor, Ohio, and John of Ludington, Mich., a sister, Miss
Vienna Asuma of sister, Miss Vienna Asuma of Los Angeles, Calif.; two grandchildren
and nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 5 p.m.
Thursday until noon Friday when the body will be moved to the church where it will
lie in state until time of service. The Men’s Brotherhood of First Lutheran Church,
of which he was a member, will have services at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Thursday.
