Elmer Arnold, Railroad Switchman, Dies, Age 55
Elmer Arnold, 55, a switchman for the North Western road and a
resident here for the past seven years, died Sunday morning of
heart attack at his home, 1028 South 20th street. It was the
second attack he suffered in the past month.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Pfeffer
funeral home in charge of the Rev. Barnlund. Interment will be at
Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. Arnold was born at Independence, Wis., in 1879 and resided
there until 16 years of age when he took up railroading. He was
married in Montana in 1905 to Miss Leo (sic) McClench. Mr. Arnold
took up railroading with the Great Northern road.
Seven years ago the deceased came to this city to be employed
as a switchman here. He was a member of the Order of Railroad
Conductors.
Survivors are his widow, three daughters, Mrs. Albert Sheridan,
Beulah and Jean, all of this city, three sisters, Mr. B.L. Hutchins
and Mrs. Libby Cook, both of Independence, Wis., and Mrs. R.J.
Gasal of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and a brother, Wyman Arnold of Woodville,
Wis.
The body may be viewed at the Pfeffer funeral home from Tuesday
until the hour of the funeral.
