John Arndt, 79, of 1509 New York Ave., died Saturday at Holy Family Hospital,
Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church,
Manitowoc. The Rev. Theodore J. Vinger will officiate and burial will be in
Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Military graveside services will be conducted
by the V.F.W. Otto-Oas Post No. 659 of Manitowoc.
Mr. Arndt was born Sept. 15, 1891, at Manitowoc, son of the late John and
Michalena Brandt Arndt. He married Lillian Hoverson Oct. 19, 1921, at Manitowoc.
He had been employed by the Standard Oil Co. for 18 years and later by the Board
of Education of Manitowoc as a custodian at Andrew Jackson School, retiring in
1956. He was a veteran of World War I serving as a corporal with Company B of
the 47th Infantry. He was wounded in action at Cha Teau Thierre in France. Mr.
Arndt was a member of the order of Maccabees and also the V.F.W. Otto-Oas Post
No. 659.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Paul J., of Manitowoc; a daughter, Mrs.
Charles Beduhn, of Morristown, Tenn.; a sister, Mrs. Anna Rauber, of Manitowoc;
four grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 6 o'clock to 9 o'clock
this Monday evening until 11:30 a.m. Tuesday and then at the church from noon
until the time of service.
Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
