PETER M. ANDERSON (d. 1956)
Peter M. Anderson (photo), 76, of 711 N. 7th St., Manitowoc, died
at his home Wednesday morning.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Urbanek and Schlei
Funeral Home, Manitowoc, the Rev. Roland Schwandt officiating. Burial
will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Born Dec. 1, 1879, Mr. Anderson was the son of the late Peter and Marie
Hanson (sic) Anderson. He was a life long resident of Manitowoc. Between
1903 and 1918 he operated a fuel business, dealing principally in coal
and wood. For the past 20 years he was a representative of the Northwestern
Mutual Insurance Co. of Milwaukee. He was a member of the Manitowoc Kiwanis
Club.
From April 16, 1924, until April 20, 1936, Mr. Anderson was alderman for
the old second ward. He regularly ran unopposed in city elections. During
his long tenure of office he was chairman of five committees; sanitation,
assessment, and finance, election and printing, cemetery and parks, and
fire and police.
Mr. Anderson is survived by two sisters, Miss Hannah and Miss Henrietta of
the Manitowoc home. It was mistakenly stated Wednesday that he was survived
by a son.
Friends may call at the funeral home until the hour of service.
