Mrs. Augusta Altman, 99, the city's oldest resident and widow of a
pioneer Manitowoc florist died early today at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. Melvin Sanderson, of 938 North 17th street.
Despite her advanced age Mrs. Altman has enjoyed good health and was
stricken suddenly Thursday.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Mittnacht-
Kollath funeral home, the Rev. Theophil Uetzmann officiating. Burial
will be in Evergreen cemetery.
She was born Augusta Keeken in Berlin, Germany, in 1850 and at the
ageof 24 years came to the United States, locating with a sister in
Michigan. In 1875 she was married to Charles Altman in this city, Mr.
Altman was one of the city's pioneer businessmen. He died 28 years
ago.
Since the death of her husband Mrs. Altman had resided with her daughter.
Survivors are two sons, William and Alfred of Sheboygan, daughter,
Mrs. Sanderson at the city; sister, Mrs. August Pringnetz of Mt. Clemens,
Mich., nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The body may be viewed after 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home, and
will be in state until the hour of services.
