David Dean Alecksen, age 51, of 916 N. 6th St., Manitowoc, died Thursday,
August 11, 1994 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc, after a
courageous battle with cancer.
Memorial Services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, August 15, 1994, at First
Lutheran Church. Rev. Richard Lind will officiate with cremation having taken
place and burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
He was born February 16, 1943, in Manitowoc, son of Ruth Hogan and the late
Vernon Alecksen. He attend schools in Manitowoc and graduated from Lincoln High
School. He entered the Army as a paratrooper in September 1961, serving in
Germany. He was discharged in 1963. He attended the University of Wisconsin,
Manitowoc County Center, University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and Chicago University.
He worked at Mirro Aluminum in Chicago for many years. He married Mary Ann Cairns
in 1969. In April 1988, he married Donna Bray, in Las Vegas. He worked for CNA
Insurance in Los Angeles and was a partner in the Insurance Risk International
while in Los Angeles. Coming to Manitowoc in 1988, at which time he started the
Alecksen Handyman Service. He devoted a lot of time to his love of floweers.
He is survive by his wife, Donna, Manitowoc; one son, Scott Alecksen, Elmhurts,
Ill.; his mother, Ruth Alecksen, Manitowoc; a brother, James Alecksen, Manitowoc;
four sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen Alecksen, Oakland, Calif., Cheryl and John
Benson, Pleasanton, Calif., Elissa Menzel, Pleasanton, Calif., Beth and Jon Bloom,
Beverly Hills, Calif.; Tom Menzel and Ben Ailes; nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles
and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his father.
Friends may greet the family Monday from 6 p.m. until the time of service.
A fund has been established in David's name, in lieu of flowers.
Jens Funeral Home and Crematory assisted the family with arrangements.
He lived life to the fullest and did everything he wanted to. Everything in his
life was an adventure. He was so excited about living and was excited about his
new journey, his last adventure.
