Spanish Royalty. Born the eldest son of Alfonso IV and his first wife Theresa de Urgell. He succeeded his father as King of Aragon in 1336 and was as Pedro I King of Sardinia, Duke of Athens and Neopatria. Although he was sickly his whole life he was also very vigorous. He reunited the Kingdom Majorca with Aragon disposing his brother-in-law Jaime III, introduced the new court protocoll and supported science and art. On the other hand was it a disastrous time for the finances as war, epidemics, bad harvest and the political influence of his fourth wifes relatives emptied his purse.
