Viola, of Rio Lucio, was predeceased by her husband Herson Barela; children: Pricilla, Virginia, infant son, Michael, and Patrick Barela; grandsons: Patrick and Michael Barela; parents Serapio and Bertha Duran; brother Lalo Duran; and sister Josie Martinez.
Viola was survived by her children: Nancy Trujillo of Seal Beach, California; Larry Barela (Kathy) of Albuquerque; Boyd Barela of Peñasco, Lou Ann Grisham (Mike) of Hereford, Texas; Cathy Barela (Mike Sillings) of Edgewood; 18 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; siblings: Mary, Rosie, Dolly, Deena, Patsy, James, Louie, Serapio Jr. and Bobby Duran and many other relatives.
A Rosary was recited on December 06, 2010. Funeral mass was held on December 07, 2010. Both services were held at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church in Peñasco. Interment was in the Barela Family Cemetery in Rio Lucio.
