Mr. Douglas J. Brown, 61, retired employee of Saturn and resident of the Mooresville Pike in Culleoka, Tennessee, died Tuesday, August 31, 2004.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, September 3, at David Bogner Family Funeral Home in Elyria, Ohio. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

The Knoxville native was the son of the late Clarence H. Brown and Dorothy Mays Brown. He attended Knox County schools and served in the United States Air Force. He retired February 1, 2004 from the Saturn Plant in Spring Hill after 38 years with General Motors. Mr. Brown was a member of the U.A.W. and a former member of Loyal Order of the Moose in Elyria, Ohio. He enjoyed bowling, playing guitar and cards. He was a member of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include special friend, Jane Gaines of Columbia; five sons, Chaz (Melissa) Brown of Culleoka, Michael Brown and Wendell (Jennifer) Brown both of Elyria, Ohio, Douglas (Stacey) Brown, Jr. and Jimmy Brown both of Wichita Falls, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Brenda (Gene) McCray of Newfoundland, Ohio, Mrs. Evelyn Hurst and Mrs. Francis Lawson both of Knoxville; two brothers Ken (Ruth) Brown of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Raymond Brown of Sweetwater; and eleven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence “Bud” Brown and Robert Brown.
