SALEM - John Samuel Vogelhuber, 83, of 3263 McCann Road, died at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Salem Community Hospital.

Mr. Vogelhuber was born Aug. 26, 1917 in Salem, the som of George and Mary (Bartesch) Vogelhuber.

A dairy farmer, he was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Salem, Salem Saxon Club Branch 19, Salem Eagles Aerie 316 and the Butler Grange.

He was a 1935 graduate of Salem High School, and was an avid bowler, softball player and camper.

His wife, Dorothy (Gobely) Vogelhuber, whom he married April 25, 1943, died July 21, 1995.

He is survived by a son, Jerry of Salem; a daughter, Mrs. David (Shirley) Roth of Salem; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Kekel of Zephryhills, Fla., and Mrs. Dorothy Southern of Prosperity, S. C.; two brothers, George of Sebring, Fla., and William of Columbus; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, James L. on Dec. 23, 1972, and a brother, Joe on June 23, 2001.
