Humphery Posey Brookshire, during the War of Northern Aggression he enlisted in the 24th Ga, Regt. Co K (McMillans Guarda) 07 May 1862, he was appointed 3rd Sergent 22 May 1863, he was wounded in the left leg, and necessitating amputation, and was captured in the Battle of Gettysburg Penn. 03 July 1863, he was transferred to, and later paroled at U.S.A. Ganeral Hospital (West's Buildings) Baltimore Maryland 25 Sept. 1863. Received at City Point Virginia 27 Sept. 1863, he was amitted to General Hospital #9 in Richmond Va. 28 Sept. 1863, he was then transferred to Jackson (Stonewall) Hospital at Richmond Va. After the War he returned home to Habersham Co. Ga.
