An obelisk erected in 1855 on the initiative of Joseph William Corfield 'to the memory of men and women who have generously given their time and means to improve the conditions and enlarge the happiness of all classes of society', with the names of fifty well-known reformes. Another twenty-five were added in 1907 on the instructuions of Corfield's daughter Emma.
