Kermit Sandy Murphy
LAUREL, Fla. - Kermit Sandy Murphy, formerly of Back Bay, Va., and Norfolk, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 14, 2001, at the age of 87 years.
Kermit grew up in the Brambleton section of Norfolk, then moved to Washington, D.C., where he worked for 20 years for civil service as an interior decorator for the White House and the Blair House. He was past worshipful master of Masonic Lodge Justice Famm No. 46, Washington, D.C., from 1966 through 1967. He was a brilliant person, well versed in Bible theology, and preparer of astrological horoscopes for many people. His deceased wife, Laura, was director of the U.S. Civil Service Retirement Commission.
He is survived by an older sister, Pauline and brother-in-law, Robert Williams; a brother, Alvin Murphy and sister-in-law, Sarah; a sister and brother-in-law, Leona and Otis Tatem of Back Bay; a brother, Willard, and sister-in-law Kathleen Murphy of Norfolk; a sister, Joycelyn Murphy of Norfolk; as well as many nieces and nephews from Maine to Florida, including his niece Carolyn Kilduff of Sarasota, Fla.
His caregiver and friend, Alice Kilpatric, of Sarasota, was at his side until the end, to whom we are eternally grateful. He was very small in stature but large as life. We will all miss him, God rest his soul, your loving family.
