Samuel Leatherwood Burns was the brother of my GGGrandfather William C.Burns (15Jun1829-25Feb1905) William C. is buried along with his wife Mary "Molly" W. Tyree (15Apr1832-Oct1922) in Blanket Cemetery, Brown County, TX.
The parents of Samuel Leatherwood and William C. are William C. Burns (12Mar1779-?) and Elizabeth "Betsy" Biffle (1788-1860). This father William C.is said to have been the first man to represent Wayne county in the State Legislature. These parents are said to be buried in Wayne Co. TN, but I cannot locate their graves. There seems to be a second Burns Cemetery in Wayne Co. that has no listings at Find A Grave at this time. Samuel Leatherwood, his wife and other family members are listed in the first Burns Cemetery.
