Josiah served as a Private, Company F, 4th Delaware Infantry during the Civil War.

He "Died Of Wounds" during the war.

Josiah was wounded severely in the left leg at Petersburg on June 18th 1864. He was be taken to Grant U.S.A. General Hospital in Willets Point, New York Harbor on July 4th 1864.

It was there that he "Died Of Wounds" due to gangrene of the left leg brought on by complications caused by ball in the leg.

Son of John Cooper and Ann Sheward Cooper.
