Paul Arthur Woods, 50, of Memphis, MO. passed away February 22, 1999, in the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia, MO.

The son of Clarence Ivan and Jeannetta Lee (Morrison) Woods, he was born on November 26, 1948, in Kirksville, MO. He attended Dover and Prairie View country schools and Scotland County R-1 Elementary School. He was a 1966 graduate of Scotland county High School, Memphis, MO. following his high school graduation, he attended Centerville Community College in Centerville, IA, and received an Associate Degree in Auto Mechanics.

He entered the United States Army in 1969, and served for two years, with one year of service in Vietnam. Following his discharge from the Army, he lived and worked in Kansas City, MO for seven years. Upon his return to Scotland County, he worked at Woods Repair, Woods Service, M&O, Dynamite's shop, and most recently, at his own shop, Paul's Repair.

Paul was one of the founders of show Me Ropers in Scotland County, MO. He enjoyed riding and breaking horses and riding motorcycles. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and his children, especially his grandson.

He was married to Monica Jane Rouse in March 1969. To this union one son, Paul Tracy "P.T." was born. He later married Joyce Jane Alexander, and to this union three daughters were born, Andrea Leann, Alison Leigh, and Jennifer Lynn.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, and his mother in 1993.

Survivors include one son, Paul Tracy "P.T." Woods of Kirksville, MO; three daughters, Andrea, Alison, and Jennifer Woods of Memphis, MO; one step-daughter, Kary Elizabeth Curry of Ottumwa, IA; four grandchildren, Andrew Paul Woods, Alexander James Curry, and Janna Elizabeth Curry; his father, Clarence Ivan Woods of Memphis, MO; five brothers, Jim Woods of Arbela, MO, Randy Woods of Jefferson City, MO, Charles Woods of Skidmore, MO, Hollis Woods of Keokuk, IA, and Kevin Woods of Memphis, MO; two sisters, Bonnie Schultz of Kirksville, MO, and Gaylene Fuller of Memphis, MO; a special friend, Jerry Dunn; and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.

Funeral services were held February 26, 1999, in the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis, MO, with the Reverend Charles Hammack officiating. Serving as pallbearers were P.T. Woods, Jim Woods, Randy Woods, Kevin Woods, Hollis Woods, and Charles Woods. Honorary bearers were Tom Cox, Tom Riebel, Max Whitney, Danny Knupp, Paul Briggs, and Harry Robeson. Interment was in the Dawson Family Cemetery on the Paul Woods farm in Scotland County, MO. Military graveside services were by the Wallace W. Gillespie Memorial Post #4958 of Memphis, MO. Memorials have been suggested to the family. Arrangements were by Gerth Funeral Service from their Memphis, MO Chapel.
