He was born in Breckinridge County, June 1, 1947, a son of Robert Earl Nelson and Ramona Eugenia Brumfield Nelson.
He was a graduate of Meade County High School and the University of Kentucky. He did his student teaching at Valley High School.
Bobby had taught government at Meade County High School January through March 1970, until his health forced him to resign.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Earl Nelson, four brothers, William O., Jerry, Ricky and Terry Nelson all of home; his grandmother Mrs. Gladys Brumfield of Union Star, Kentucky and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held from Brandenburg Methodist Church with Rev. Donnie N. Crenshaw and Rev. John L. Coomer officiating. Interment was in Cap Anderson Cemetery, directed by Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home. pallbearers were: Jerry Williams, Sherrill Williams, Jerry Berry, Barry Donaldson, David Fultz and Raymond Cross.
