Ella May Brooke, daughter of John and Aurilla Ward, was born March 22, 1883, on a farm south of Exeter. She continued to reside in Fillmore county until her passing, April 21, at the Long-term Care Unit of the Fillmore County hospital.
Ella was married to Lyman C. Brooke January 4, 1906. To them were born two children, a daughter, Bonnie Buryl, now Mrs. Charles Harris, and a son John Edward Brooke.
Mrs. Brooke was a member of the United Methodist church, a charter member of Chelsea Woman's club and had been an Eastern Star.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Charles Harris, son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Brooke, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a brother, Harry Ward.
Preceding her in death was her husband, father and mother, a son-in-law, Charles Harris, two brothers, George and Percy Ward, two grandsons and one great-grand daughter who died in infancy.
Funeral services were conducted at Farmer-Harris Funeral Home, Geneva, at 10;30 a.m., Tuesday, April 23, 1974, Rev. John F. Stayton officiated.
Pallbearers were Lawrence Ebbeka, Norbert Gergen, Edward Hellbusch, Donald Peterson, Derrel Hutchens and Bernard Weiss. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
