Carol Porter Pierce, 101, entered Heaven's gates on Friday, February 18, 2011, surrounded by family and friends in Oklahoma City, Okla. Her memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday, February 21, 2011 at Spring Creek Assembly of God Church in Edmond, Okla. with a graveside memorial 3 p.m. at the Orion Cemetery in Fairview, Okla.

Carol was born in a log cabin, April 29, 1909 to Lewis B. and Kitty Porter in Fairview. Her father was a farmer and her mother a homemaker. Life was hard in the early 1900's but Carol had many stories about how, as a family, they made the best of every day. Carol and her siblings were very close and from her birth until her last breath, Carol loved deeply and unconditionally.

Carol married Eugene F. Pierce, January 27, 1927. Eugene was a baker, farmer and minister. Together they raised three children, pastored churches in Freedom, Elm Grove and Hominy, Okla.; Wellington, Kan.; Jacksonville and Lakeland, Fla.; and in Edmond. They also were missionaries on Native American reservations in New Mexico and Arizona.

Her entire life was spent loving and serving others and she will be greatly missed. Carol will be remembered for her beautiful smile, unwavering faith and sparkling personality. She laughed daily and brought joy to everyone who came into contact with her.
