s/o Butler Remey Pottinger I & Mary Ann Pottinger (they were first cousins). He was a Railroad Engineer for L & N from about 1897 to 1911. (His nickname came from being able to jump on and off trains so fast.) He married Lula Elliott Morgan on March 9th, 1918 in Nelson Co. KY and was a farmer by now. They lived at Walnut Hill for 11 years where their first four children were born: Ruby, Butler III, Paul, and Eugene. Ramey and Lula moved to their second home in 1929 (which was built in 1881 (torn down 2022) by Butler R. Pottinger I.) Their fifth child Ernest, was born there. Remey died on August 21, 1964 at the age of 85.

POTTINGER, Butler Remey Age 85, died at his residence, August 21, 1964. Survived by his wife, Lula Morgan Pottinger; 5 children. Mrs. Ruby Reynolds, Lebanon, Ky, Paul and Butler Pottinger of New Haven, Eugene and Ernest Pottinger of Louisville. Funeral service will be from New Haven Baptist Church. 2:30 Sunday afternoon. Burial in River View Cemetery. Remains are at the Greenwell Funeral Home at New Haven, Ky.
