H. W. Vriezelaar, Lifelong Jasper Resident, Dies -- MONROE, Iowa -- Henry W. Vriezelaar, 75 of near Otley, Iowa a lifelong resident of Jasper County, Iowa, died Monday at the Pella Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Monroe. Rev. James Burns, assistant pastor of the church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe, Iowa. ...
Survivors are his wife; two sons: Arthur D. and John H. both of Monroe, Iowa; four daughters: Mrs. Lorena [Madeline] West of Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. William [Belma] Rice of Newton, Iowa; Mrs. William [Mary] Schendel of Marshalltown, Iowa; Mrs. William [Coralee] Woody of Phoenix, Arizona; 12 grandchildren and a great-grand child. A brother Gradus of Otley, Iowa; and three sisters: Mrs. Nelle Breed of Monroe, Iowa; Mrs. Walter [Margaret] VanDoorninck of Otley, Iowa; Mrs. Louis [Jeannette] VanRoekel of Redlands, California.
The son of Arie and Wemeltje Douma Vriezelaar, he was born Dec. 10, 1896 near Otley, Iowa. Married January 21,1920. Along time farmer in the Otley area, he hadbeen residing at Locustdale Farm near Otley, Iowa.
