Son of James B. Nall (1786–1847) and Elizabeth "Betsy" Waggoner (1788–1850).

He served in the Mexican War as a member of the Perry Volunteers.

He then farmed, and on Jan. 6, 1858, married Sarah A. Bennett in Perry County, Alabama.

He served in the Alabama Infantry, CSA, first as a Captain, and finally as a Major.

Duke died of complications from a lung injury he sustained six months earlier in the Battle of the Wilderness, in Virginia, on May 6, 1864.

Gravesite Details The stone is brilliant white, and appears to be fine grade Georgia marble.
