"Mrs. Carmen Thornton, 69, died 21 Jan 1973 at Reid Memorial Hospital following a short illness. She was the widow of Alvin Thornton and had resided at 81 South 14th Street. She was a member of the Daughters of America of Richmond.
Surviving are a son, Gene Horn (sic) of Chicago, Ill.; three daughters, Mrs. Clara Adams of Richmond, Mrs. Eunice Richardson of Centerville and Mrs. Mary Stuard of San Diego, CA; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Wilbur Bunger of Richmond and a sister, Mrs.Wanda Jones of Lynn.
Burial was in New Garden Cemetery at Fountain City."
