George W. Anderson, 85, 905 S. Park St., died Tuesday afternoon, July 9, 1991, at Parkview Care Center.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. William Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Prayers for a Christian wake will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Raymond Funeral Home, where friends may call at their convenience. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mass stipends or to charity of donor's choice.
Anderson was born May 1, 1906, at Hocking, the son of Carl E. and Clida Simms Anderson. He grew up in Oskaloosa, graduated from Oskaloosa High School, William Penn College and the Palmer School of Chiropractic Medicine. He owned and operated Anderson Steel Inc. for 46 years until retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Elks and Eagles lodges, Fairfield Golf and County Club and Walton Club. He married Genevieve L. Wilson on Nov. 4, 1940, at St. Mary Catholic Church. She survives, as do several nieces and nephews. A sister, Edna Donaldson and a brother, Harry, preceded him in death.
