Suggested edit: It is highly unlikely that John Todd died 1719 is the father of Robert Todd 1697-1775, the ancestor of Mary Todd Lincoln. The tradition of an Armagh origin did not come from the Todd family; it came from the publisher of a Todd manuscript about the Robert Todd 169701775 family published in 1905 by George Seilhamer 1839-1916 in his genealogical periodical, the Kittochtinny Magazine. His sole reason for ascribing parentage to John Todd d 1719 was that John's will mentioned children of the same names as the extended family of Robert Todd b1697. He acknowledged the fact that John Todd d 1719 was an Anglican and the Todds of Robert Todd 1697 were Presbyterians, but that did not dissuade him. He seems to have never considered that the father of the Robert Todd b 1697 might have been a farmer who died without a will. The DNA pattern of the Mary Todd group of Todds matches the Todds of Central County Antrim. The Todds of Armagh and Tyrone have very different DNA patterns.
