James W. "Blizz" Blizzard, 85, of Morgantown, passed away Friday, July 18, 2003, at Madison Rehab and Nursing Center.
He was born March 7, 1918, in Whitmer, W.Va., a son of the late James Marshall and Cleo Ruth Blizzard.
He was a veteran of World War II having served time in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was employed by Pittsburgh Auto and Summers Auto Parts as a machinist for many years. He was one of the founding members of the Triune Halleck Volunteer Fire Department and an avid bowlers.
He is survived by a son, James C. Blizzard of Glenview, Illinois; two daughters, Lynn Williams and Lillis, both of Morgantown; three brothers and spouses, William Neal and Louise Blizzard, of Cumberland, Md., Raymond Max and Betty Blizzard of Charleston and James Marshall, Jr. and Patricia Blizzard of Greensburg, Pa; three beloved grandchildren, PFC David Williams, of Morgantown, who is stationed in Savannah, Georgia, Tanya Williams and James C. Blizzard, both of Morgantown; and his extended family at the Madison Rehab who provided loving care for him over the past three years.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Darwin Gilbert Blizzard and Edward Paul Blizzard; three sisters, Edith Blizzard, Georgia Paugh and Rebecca Jane Blizzard, and a son-in-law, Bob Williams.
Friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home on Sunday, July 20, 2003, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., and on Monday, July 21, 2003, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. David Spence officiating. Burial will follow at Bayard Cemetery in Bayard, W.Va.
