Sgt. Daniel A. Rodriquez, 28, assigned to the 548th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, based at Fort Drum, died Tuesday, July 18, when his vehicle was struck by an enemy improvised explosive device in Ghazni City, Afghanistan.
He was born Dec. 1, 1983 in Bronx, New York, the son of Luz Soto and Jose Rodriguez.
He married Tiffanie Buckey on May 31, 2002 in Annapolis, Md.
Rodriguez joined the Army in July 2002. After training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, he was assigned to Fort Richardson, Alaska, and Fort Hood, Texas. He arrived at Fort Drum in March 2010.
Rodriguez deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from October 2003 to October 2004. He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from November 2005 to November 2006 and June 2008 to June 2009. He deployed with his unit in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in April 2012.
Calling hours will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 30, at Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, in the chapel of the funeral home with full military honors.
