Carl (Charles) Theodor Zosel was the son of Johan Gottlieb Zosel. He was born March 24, 1832 in Saxony, Germany.
Carl and Wilhelmina came to the United States in approximately 1859 and their son, Theodore was born in New York on July 29, 1860. Charles and Minnie were born in Wisconsin, August and Willie in New Ulm, Minnesota; Anna, Ida and Emma at Iberia, Brown County, Minnesota.
Carl served in the Union Army from February 13 to September 27, 1865 as a private in Company M, 1st Minnesota Regiment of heavy artillery at Chatanooga, Tennessee.
He and his family migrated to Todd County Minnesota in 1877 because of the grasshopper infestations in southern Minnesota. They had lost their crops two years in a row.
Wilhelmina died on February 2, 1891. Carl Married Amalia Hillma on October 20, 1891. They were divorced on March 1, 1895. He then married Julia Nadler at Sleepy Eye, Minnesota on October 30, 1895.
