HEART ATTACK FATAL

Ervin David Nash, 65, of Hamilton Township, died suddenly last Thursday, February 25, of a heart attack while driving his car on Arnold Lake Road. Accompanied by his wife, they were on the way to their home, a half mile distant, when he was fatally stricken.

Born in Gladwin County February 2, 1900, he married the former Helen Hager February 16, 1921, in Gladwin. He was the son of John E. Nash and the later Mrs. Nash.

Well-known throughout the area, Mr. Nash was a power shovel operator for 38 years and had retired as an employee of the Gladwin County Road Commission, on February 12, only two weeks before his death. In past years he had also been employed by the road commission of Clare County and private contractors.

Mr. Nash was a member and trustee of the Skeels Baptist Church and formerly served as a director on the Franklin School District board of education.

Survivors are his wife, Helen; four sons, DeWayne of Garden City, Eldon, Edwin A., and Marvin, all of Gladwin; two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Beverly) Schuch of Petosky, and Mrs. John (Gloria) Zolinski of Saginaw; his father, John E.; three brothers, Sam and Frank, of Gladwin, and John of Westerville, Ohio; and 17 grandchildren. One son died in infancy.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:00 p.m., at the Skeels Baptish Church. The Rev. Carl Briggs officiated and interment was in Highland Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of the Miner Chapel.

Mr. and Mrs. Nash were meeting a truck, driven by Charlie Pickard, of Wooden Shoe Village, when Mrs. Nash realized her husband was not in control of the car, but she was unable to halt the vehicle and avert a collison. Pickard pulled to the side of the highway in an attempt to get out of the path of the automobile and went into the ditch after the impact. The truck turned over on its side. The Nash car did not leave the road.

Mrs. Nash and occupants of the truck suffered only minor injuries. Gladwin County Record dated 3-3/1965 Column - 3 Page - 1.
