Eyton Gerald "Gerry" Hammarstrom, 86, passed away on Friday, Jan. 30, 2009 after a brief battle with lung cancer. He was the loving husband of Barbara (Rose) Hammarstrom.
Born in Molndal, Sweden on September 7, 1922, he was the son of the late Carl and Maggie (Svanberg) Hammarstrom. Gerry was a veteran of the United States Army. Having served during WWII he fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Susan L. Delise.
A memorial service will be held 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, in the Chapel and Hollenbeck Room at Geer Village, 77 S. Canaan Road, Canaan, CT 06018.
