Wilber spent his early years on a farm near Fairmont, attending school in District 18 and Fairmont high school.
June 5, 1935, he was united in marriage to Darlene Morris of Geneva at St. Paul’s Methodist church in Lincoln, Neb. To this union were born three children, Sharon Kae, Gary Lee and David Morris. The family lived at Fairmont and Belleville, Kas., before returning to Geneva to make their home. Darlene passed away May 5, 1959.
Wilber was employed by Nichols Construction Co. for a number of years and by the Fillmore County Highway Department prior to his death.
April 11, 1961, he was married to Mrs. Irene Junge of Fairmont, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene, mother and father and a brother, Herbert.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Irene; a daughter, Mrs. Sharon Kae Beaman; two sons, Gary of Stockton, Cal., and David on Navy service in New London, Conn; a step-daughter, Mrs. Carol Loucks of Geneva; and step-son, Dayle Horner of Columbus, Neb. Also surviving are ten grandchildren; three brothers, Francis of Fairfield, Ia; Gordon of Fairmont and Donald of York; one sister, Mrs. S. E. (Marion) Doss of Gentry, Ark., a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Thursday, January 29, at the United Methodist church of Geneva, with Rev. John Stayton of Geneva and Rev. Paul W. Walker of Fairmont officiating. Sheldon Johnson, accompanied by Mrs. Sheldon Johnson, sang “The Lord’s Prayer” and “Rock of Ages.” Organist was Mrs. Norval Lomax. Pallbearers were John Anderson Sr., and John Moul of Fairmont, Fred Baloun, Robert Hofferber, Wilber Kelch, and Harold Maier, all of Geneva. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
