Gwin Davis 49 years old, Somerset farmer and supervisor of Mountain Township, died at 10:45 a.m. today at the Harrisburg Hospital, where he had been a patient for a week.
Davis was well known throughout the county. He was a graduate of the Harrisburg Township high school where he was a track star, running the middle distances, in the early twenties.
Davis' wife, Mable, preceded him in death, dying in 1952.
He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Maxine Belt, Buena Vista; Donald Davis, Pontiac, Mich; Doyle Davis, near Somerset; Mrs. Shirley Borders, Harrisburg; two sons Leon and Gwin Jr., at home, three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Oral Walls, Big Ridge; Mrs. Cordis Cutsinger, Battle Creek, Mich.; two brothers, Albert Davis, Manteno; and C. A. Davis, Battle Creek, Mich.
He was a member of the Big Saline Church and of the Somerset I.O.O. F. Lowman lodge, No. 736.
The body is now at the Harrisburg funeral home, and plans are incomplete.
