Claude Barnes married Wanda Juanita Martin (1911-1998), the daughter of Claude Cecil Martin and Erie Lee Henderson, marrying in Sebastian County, Arkansas on December 2, 1926. They made their home in Donald Township Arkansas where, in 1830, he worked as a farm laborer. In 1940, they lived in Island Township, Arkansas, where Claude worked a job with the Works Progress Administration.
His sister, Harriet Gilliam, had moved to California, and Claude most likely moved there for that reason.
