Son of Humphrey Avery and Susan Miller Case, husband of Grace Adelle Lane, whom he married on December 21,1880 at Mattituck, NY, and father of Irene Lupton (married Leslie Howard MacRobbie) and Humphrey Roger Avery.

Obituary - Charles W. Avery, 60 years old, one of the best known residents of East Patchogue, died last Friday morning. He had been seriously ill for only a few days. Early last week he underwent an operation for appendicitis.

Mr. Avery leaves a widow, who was formerly Miss Grace Lane, of Mattituck, a son, Humphrey Avery, and a daughter, Mrs. Irene MacRobbie, all of East Patchogue. Mr. Avery was a native of East Patchogue, the family having lived there for several generations and his new residence being on the homestead farm. He was the proprietor of a large nursery business which he conducted for many years. He was a trustee of the Union Savings Bank.

Funeral services were from his late home on Sunday afternoon.
