Evening Times, Cumberland, Maryland, 20 Oct 1908: "Lonaconing, Md - Oct 20-Mrs. Ambrose Bevans, aged about 80 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Logsdon in Barton, last Friday. Mrs Bevans was formerly of Lonaconing. She leaves four daughters and two sons; Mrs. Bernard Murphy of Frostburg, and Miss Nan Bevans of Barton, Mrs. O'Halloran of Detmold, and Mrs. Joseph Logsdon of Barton. The sons are; James Bevans of McKeesport, Pa., and Archibald, whose present whereabouts is unknown. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock, proceeding to Frostburg by special streetcar and interment was made in St. Michael's cemetery. Among those who came to the funeral from out of town were: Agnes McDonald of Paw Paw, Mr. and Mrs. James Bevans of McKeesport, McDonald of Martinsburg, Grover Bevans and family of Grantsville and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Murphy of Frostburg. The funeral was a large one. Mrs. Bevans was a woman of boundless charity and helpful to her neighbors in time of sickness. Grandmother Bevans lived a useful, helpful and eminently Christian life and spent her declining years in peace and contentment, tenderly cared for by the daughter whose home was hers."
