He became vice-president of Aetna Life and was a director of Aetna Life, the Aetna Casualty and Surety Company, and the Automobile Insurance Company. He was a director of his father's Kellogg and Bulkeley Company from 1902 to 1946 when it was merged Case, Lockwood and Brainard Co. to form the Connecticut Company.
He was a City Councilman and an aide to his uncle Gov. Morgan G. Bulkeley. He was president of the Hartford Club and president and trustee of the Cedar Hill Cemetery Association.
