George P. Walker, 89, New London, died at 10:45 a.m. Monday, June 25, 1985, at the New London Care Center.

He was born April 20, 1896, at Abingdon, Illinois, the son of Samuel and Hattie Moyers Walker. He married Verona Dotson November 1, 1924, at Burlington.

He was a WWI Army veteran and retired after 39 years at the CB&Q Railroad Shops at West Burlington.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters: Mrs. Mazie Belles, Phoenix, Arizona; Mrs. Vera Virden, Mt. Pleasant and Mrs. Jean Brunk, Revere Missouri; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Elsie Walker, Marshalltown; Myrtle Dotson, West Burlington; Mrs. Viola VanHouten, Corpus Christie, Texas; and Mrs. Marjorie Kimble, Morning Sun; and two brothers: Samuel Walker, Cedar Rapids, and Robert Walker, Victoria, Texas.

Four sisters and five brothers preceded him in death.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Elliott Chapel in New London. The Reverend Robert Dameron will officiate. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemeter in Morning Sun. Friends may call at the Elliott Chapel Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m.
