Arenio was the son of Teodoro and Ninfa Trujillo of Pojoaque. Identified siblings were Guadalupita, Celina, Lusianita, and Ernestina.

Arsenio was inducted into the Army Air Corps from California. Corporal Jose Arsenio Trujillo served with the 250th Bombardment Squadron, 100th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force. His status was reported as missing. Arsenio's name appears on the Cambridge American Cemetery and Monument in England; as well as the rest of his crew.

Missing Aircrew Report (MACR) #44-6993 reports that on 27 Jun 1944, Cpl Jose A. Trujillo was a Belly/Bottom Tail Gunner (BTG) on B-17G Flying Fortress tail #42-102611 LN-E (LN=350th Bomb Squadron, E=Squadron ID). The bomber was on a coastal training mission and last seen 5 miles off the coast of Great Yarmouth, England. Also onboard were pilot 2nd Lt John L. Donaldson, co-pilot 2nd Lt Gail C. Campbell, Navigator 2nd Lt Gene F. O'Connell, Bombardier 2nd Lt Hugh M. McKeniff, Engineer Sgt Warren M. Cain, Radio Operator Sgt Stanley P. Siders, Right Wing Gunner Sgt Billy L. Couch, Left Wing Gunner Cpl Dale E. Gustafson, and Tail Gunner Sgt Arthur Myers. The aircraft failed to return and the crew were recorded as deceased. The 100th Bomb Group flew bombing missions in suppport of the D-Day Normandy landings. But this crew hadn't joined the 100th until 15 June 1944 and likely hadn't flown a combat mission. The MACR records Arsenio's mother as Ninfa Trujillo of Santa Fe.
