J. K. Lambard, an old Confederate, died at this place Tuesday afternoon after an illness of several weeks duration. The remains were buried in the Meridian Cemetery Wednesday afternoon. (Source: The Meridian Tribune, August 16, 1912)

His parents were Jesse Lambard (1802-1887) and Elsie Cleaves (1808-1866) of Kennebec County, Maine. His siblings included Joseph S. Lambard, Angeline Lambard (1832-1833), Mary Angeline Lambard Chesley Wait, Julia Augusta Lambard Hooper, Phebe E. Lambard, Harriett (Hattie) C. Lambard Gowell, Thomas Henry Lambard, Sarah S. Lambard and Jesse A. Lambard.

In 1860 he was living in Maine. By 1861 he was Texas. He enlisted as a private in Capt Charles L. Pyron's Company, 2nd Regt Texas Mounted Rifles (CSA). He joined on April 14, 1861 in San Antonio at age 18. He mustered in at San Antonio, May 23, 1861 for 12 months. He joined Co B. Baird's Regiment Texas Cavlary (4 Regt Arizona Brig, Showalter's Regt CSA) where he appears on the return in August 1864.

Later he joined Co B 2nd Regt Texas Cav (Union) at Brazos Santiago, Texas on 1 Mar 1865 and mustered in on 29 May 1865 at the same location. He was present on 30 Jun 1865. In Aug 1865 he was reported on detached service in Com Dept since 12 June 1865. He was present on extra duty service in Q.M.D since 1 Aug 1865 on 31 Aug 1865. He was absent as an interpreter for Col. Whittesey since 5 Sep 1865 in Sept 1865. He mustered out at Brownsville, Texas on 10 Nov 1865.

In this Union enlistment record he is described as born in Gardiner, Maine, age 22, occupation farmer with blue eyes, light hair, fair complexion and was 5 ft 7 ½ inches tall.

He married Nancy Ann Sullivan on 24 May 1882 in Brown County, Texas (although his wife gives their marriage year as 1880 in her pension application).

He applied for and received a CSA pension in 1899 where he stated that he was unsure of his actual birth except he said "I can't swear postivity but I think I am 62 on the 22nd of Dec. next". His wife applied for a widow's pension after his death (1912).
