OBITUARY
J. ALFRED HOLMSTROM
Jonas Alfred Holmstrom, son of Jonas Peter and Anna Louise Holmstrom, was born on a farm near Harcourt, Iowa, on January 19, 1879 and passed away at the home of his daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Gustafson on Thursday, August 28, 1958, at the age of 79 years, 7 months and 11 days.
On October 12, 1904, he was united in marriage with Martha Jacobson. To this union three children were born. His wife passed away on April 22, 1910. In 1916 he married Esther Johnson. She passed away in 1944 in Minnesota.
Mr. Holmstrom lived around Harcourt until 1916 when he and his family moved to Minnesota. Later they returned to Iowa to live on the Holmstrom family farm two miles east of Harcourt. After the death of his parents he and his wife again returned to Minnesota where he lived until about a year ago, when after 10 years of failing health, he desired to return to Iowa to be near his children.
He leaves to mourn his passing his three children, Harold Holmstrom of Dayton, Gladys (Mrs. Walter Gustafson) and Martha (Mrs. Harold Castenson) both of Harcourt, 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 1 sister, Mrs. James Richey of Dayton, and two brothers, Martin Holmstrom of Pequot, Minnesota and A.L. Holmstrom of Dayton.
Mr. Holmstrom was baptized and confirmed in the Emanuel Lutheran Church of Dayton. He served his church for many years as a Sunday school teacher and member of the Church Board of Administration.
