ABINGDON, Va. Paul Barker Harris Sr., 94, of Wytheville, Va., and for merly of Abingdon, peacefully departed this life on Saturday, July 14, 2012. Paul proudly served his country during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Cebu in the Pacific Campaign. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, paw-paw, great-paw-paw and uncle. Paul will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jason Carson and Henrietta Harris; brothers, Robert Harris, J.C. Harris Jr. and George Harris; sister, Virginia Sorensen; and grandson, Adam Fulton. Paul is survived by his wife of 69 years, Annie Mae Harris; one brother, Edwin Harris of Bristol, Va.; and one sister-in-law, Kathryn Harris of Abingdon. He also leaves behind one son, Paul B. Harris Jr. and wife, Laurie, of Coe Hill, Ontario, Canada; three daughters, Sarah Fulton and husband, Dewey, of Emory, Va., Sharon Stevens of Wytheville and Melanie Mowery and husband, Mike, of Draper, Va. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements are incomplete at this time and services will be announced in the near future.
