Mr. Chapin was an electric truck operator for Hammermill Paper Co. for 36 years, retiring in 1982. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a former member of St. Ann Catholic Church, where he was an usher and guard of honor. He was a member of the Erie Apostolate of Divine Mercy.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Janiszewski Chapin of Erie; a daughter, Patricia Ann Chapin of Erie; a son, Kenneth "Brad" Chapin of Erie; two sisters, Violet Roesner and Leola Detrick, both of Erie; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
