Ethel May was the fifth daughter born into the family of Boaz Jaggers and his wife Lydia Jones Jaggers. Ethel grew up on the family farm near Munfordville, Hart County, Kentucky. When she was 20 years old she and her younger sister, Maymie left Hart County to live in Louisville, Kentucky. They found work as a waitresses and lived together in an apartment.

In 1921, when Ethel was 22 years old she married a man named Charles E. "Mac' McCoy. He was a mechanic who was living in Pittsburgh, PA and she was living in, Monroe, MI at the time. They were married in Lucas County, Ohio. Mac died in 1926.

In April 1930, Ethel Harris was listed as a widow in the US Census and at this time her youngest sister Lydi Mac was living with her.

In August of 1930, Ethel married Hugh Harris. He was a widower and his occupation was boiler maker.

Neither her marriage to Mac McCoy or Hugh Harris resulted in children. In 1939, Ethel died of cancer.

While I remember my great grandmother Clara speaking of her sister Ethel, I don't remember any specific stories, but I do remember there was a fondness of Ethel associated with the stories. I do remember my grandmother Hartswell telling me that her aunt Ethel was her favorite aunt.
