The Piedmont Herald, March 13, 1891-

- THE LAST SLEEP: "As soon as we begin to live we all begin to die" was vividly emphasized.... Saturday night when it was announced that Horatio Pemberton Jamesson, son of Mr. J.S. Jamesson, had quietly and peacefully passed away at his residence on Westernport Hill. Mr. Jamesson had been complaining for some time having been a victim of the grippe, though no danger was apprehended, but the sad and sudden death of his wife which occurred on Feb. 23 caused such a mental and physical strain on his constitution that he fell victim to typhoid fever, which baffled medical skill, death resulting at 7 o'clock p.m. March 7, 1891, aged nearly 30 years. Only a few days ago he was surrounded with a loving wife and two interesting children and fancy was wearing her brightest garlands and strewing before him. But alas! The brightest hopes must perish; and he was doomed to disappointment for in a few hours his loved companion was taken, claimed by death, and to him this world was naught but darkness. We are glad to say that the hope he entertained of meeting his loved ones in that home on high made his dying hours peaceful, and that he left evidence behind that he has gone to a home of rest and joy. By his death his two interesting boys, Herald, and Florin, aged about four and two years respectively, are left orphans, but fortunately in the best of hands. The funeral took place Monday at St John’s M.E. Church the pastor Rev C.H. Wood preaching an able sermon. It will be remembered that the third sermon preached by Rev Wood was that of Florin Jamesson, a brother of the deceased and this being his last sermon of the year makes a sad coincidence. The pall bearers were Messrs J.P. Tibbits of Barton; Thos Parker of Frostburg; Dr T.A. Cross; F.C. Jamesson; W.H. Fredlock; F.L. Fredlock; and J.C. Fredlock, all cousins of the deceased. His remains were laid to rest in Philos Cemetery, beside his wife.
