DeKalb, Helen M. Age 90, of Plymouth, passed away on March 21, 2012.
Helen was born December 4, 1921 in Chelmsford, Mass. She was the youngest and last of seven children born to Polish immigrant parents.
Helen was a retired Registered Nurse having received her nursing training from the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing in 1943. Helen worked as an operating room nurse in Boston and Los Angeles until her marriage.
Helen and her husband, John, lived in Uruguay, South America, Georgia, Tennessee, and eventually Minnesota.
Helen was deeply devoted to her family, friends and faith. She enjoyed lively conversation, antiquing, bridge, cooking, sewing, girls hockey, and most of all, caring for others. It was important to Helen to learn something new every day.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John.
Helen is survived by her son, Jed (Nancy) DeKalb and daughter, Stacey (Luke) Komarek; granddaughters, Emma and Maggie DeKalb, Laura and Sally Komarek; nieces, nephews and many good friends.
Mass of Christian Burial Sat. 10:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Joseph of Medicine Lake, 13015 Rockford Rd., Plymouth.
Private interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Visitation Fri. 5-7 p.m. at Gearty-Delmore Funeral Chapel of Plymouth, 37th Ave. N. and Vicksburg Lane, Plymouth and at the church Sat. one hour prior to the Mass.
Memorials in Helen's memory are preferred to Sharing and Caring Hands, the St. Joseph Home for Children or donor's preference.
