Drowned in the River.
Wm. C. Ott [sic] was drowned in the Mississippi river near Crow Wing on Sunday last. In company with his brothers, Charles and Albert, he was endeavoring to swim the river to obtain possession of their boat which had been taken across the river by some unknown parties. The other boys returned to the shore they started from finding they could not swim the distance but William continued on, disappearing when nearly across, probably having been seized with cramps. His body was recovered three miles from the scene of the accident on Tuesday evening. The funeral occurred on Wednesday afternoon from Losey & Dean's undertaking rooms, conducted by Rev. Geo. West. Deceased was 22 years old and a son of Charles Ott [sic]. (Brainerd Dispatch, 06 July 1894, p. 4, c. 3)
