Alfred "Leroy" Heck, 45, of Morgantown, died Friday (June 15, 2012) at Grafton City Hospital. He was born Feb. 13, 1967 in Greenville, Pa., a son of Alfred Lee and Lydia Lee Garrett Heck of Worthington (Helen's Run). Leroy was employed for more than 20 years for the Giant Eagle Stores in Morgantown and was a member of UCFW Local 23. He was an amateur radio operator with the call sign N8UEV Silent Key and a past president of Mon Wireless Association. He was a 1985 graduate of Lincoln High School and United Career Center, where he studied computer science. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his aunts and uncles, Lillian Grace and Robert Marley of Pennsylvania, Carl and Eileen Ankrom of Ohio, Ellen and Charles Mills of Ohio, and Dianna and Larry Henderson of Tennessee; and his cousins, Brenda, Thomas, David, Karen, Donald, Julie, Jame, Amy, Eva, Tina, Cindy, Sonny and Jean. Leroy was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Alfred Clyde and Clara Rose Heck; and his maternal grandparents, Leroy and Hester Garrett. The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Grafton City Hospital, especially on the third floor, for their care and compassion during Leroy's illness. Friends may call at Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Monday, where funeral services will be held Tuesday with the Rev. David Spence officiating. Cremation will follow and inurnment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
